VIDEO GAME OST [LACA-5034] (#34) TITLE: SUPER ROBOT WARS α ORIGINAL STORY D-2  AKA:   スーパーロボット大戦α ORIGINAL STORY D-2  Release Date: 23 May 2001 (2001.05.23)  This is the 2nd drama CD available for Super Robot Wars Alpha, released one month after the first ORIGINAL STORY D-1. The Drama D collection has been published a year after the release of Super Robot Wars Alpha on Playstation. The title “Original Story” stands for a drama CD (CD that includes an audio story). However, the content provided is much more than a simple drama. First, the story is well mixed, full of sounds and action. Furthermore, the tracks provided include more than that. Track 5 is a remix of Cybuster famous song. The title “EDGEWIRED” stands for a hard rock version. There’s also 3 arranged versions background musics, including 2 orchestral versions ! (Track 6 and 12).  If I compare it to the first D-1, I have to admit that it’s not as good as the first STORY CD. I’m not a fan of hard rock and orchestral tracks don’t sound as inspired as the previous CD of the serie. Not so bad, but far from being the best Super Robot Wars CD released. 2:17 08 魔装機神 4:42 09 決意 9:32 10 決戦,アイドネウス島 4:29 11 試練の時は終わりを告げる 12:57 12 遠い日の安息 (ドラマアレンジver.) 2:00 Disc length 71:16 Japanese tracks English translation (source VGMDB.net)  01 Threat of the Holy Crusaders 9:01 02 The Night Before the Sortie 10:11 03 Hagane Takes Off 4:29 04 Last Hope 4:50 05 Cyclone! Release date: 25 September 2008 (2008.9.25)

This beautiful Phone Card is what you got when you pre-ordered Super Robot Wars Z on Playstation 2. It features Setsuko Ohara and her mecha, VIRGOLA UNIT 1, both created for the game. There are many Super Robot Wars pre-order gifts. This phone card was given if you bought the game at Imagine/Tsutaya shops.  I use a brand new scan filter for this image, which explains why the picture is crisp and shiny. I will reupload older files with the new settings ʘ‿ʘ

VIDEO GAME OST [KTCR-1376] (#31) TITLE: SUPER ROBOT WARS GAIDEN: Masou Kishin THE LORD OF ELEMENTAL Sound Storm AKA: スーパーロボット大戦外伝 魔装機神 THE LORD OF ELEMENTAL サウンドストーム Release Date: 25 May 1996 (1996.05.25) This music CD was released 2 months after the original Super Famicom game came out. Do not expect licensed music from other anime series since Lord of elemental only features Banpresto Original robots. The 73 minutes OST contains 46 tracks. Keep in mind that the music is taken directly from the Super Famicom, so make sure you enjoy Chip Tunes music. Of course, if you’re a Lord of Elemental fan, I don’t need to tell you to buy it. You will find the original tracks from the series, called Psybuster, Flapper Girl or Endless Battling. The Soundtrack also includes 4 arranged versions which don’t differ much from the original ones. If you’re not a LOE fan, you might prefer other Super Robot Wars music CDs. If you’re into Chip Tunes, I would rather recommend Super Robot Wars Complete Collection Soundtrack. Overall, this CD is not bad, but it’s far from the best ones.

MX PORTABLE  Release Date: 27 May 2004 (2004.5.27)

The PORTABLE version of Super Robot Wars MX is truly amazing. Super Robot Wars MX is one of the best Super Robot Wars since 1991. It features an incredible amount of mechas series that were released both in Japan, US and Europe. You want Grendizer, Evangelion, Gear Fighter Dendoh, Gundam, Getter Robot, Nadesico, Rahxephon: You got it ! Also the new Zeorymer is a power beast. It can pretty much kill anything. Boost it and finish the game !

The PSP version is truly impressive. The game is technically more or less the same than the PS2 version, it has been ported for the widescreen ratio of the console. Game mechanics have been slightly improved, so it’s more an improved remake than a simple conversion. A must play.

L Release Date: 25 November 2010 (2010.11.25) Restored version by http://www.srwcollection.com  The DVD was sent to shops to promote the sales of Super Robot Wars L on Nintendo DS. I restored the DVD image with the H.265 plugin. However the source was good enough, so no extensive video settings was required. This is one of the best Super Robot Wars game released on a handheld with a ridiculously good animation for the DS. Great Work !

Release date: 27 May 2004 (2004.5.27)

Another great phone card. Again if you don’t know anything about the Japanese phone card market, head over this article. This phone card was provided with the first sales of Super Robot Wars MX. It features Aqua, one of the main original characters created by Banpresto for the game. The publisher will follow this new way of designing Phone cards, since the upcoming cards will feature original characters instead of showing the classic “Cover art” from the game.

VIDEO GAME OST [FSCA-10039] (#27) TITLE: SUPER ROBOT WARS F FINAL VOCAL AND ARRANGE COLLECTION GOLD AKA: GOLD Release Date: 17 June 1998 (1998.06.17)

This soundtrack was released after the release of Super Robot Wars F Final on Saturn. The Playstation version was released one year after the soundtrack. I have already reviewed the SILVER version of the soundtrack released a month before the gold one.

So what differs with the GOLD one ? Well basically EVERYTHING. The first 6 tracks are rearranged voiced songs. The first song must be one of the best “TIME TO COME” song version ever released. They also did a very fine job with other songs. They sound as good as original ones, which by itself is an impressive achievement. Other tracks are rearranged music from the game. The only downside of this album might be the low running time: only 42 minutes of great songs.

This is the 3rd OST from Super Robot Wars F/FFinal reviewed on srwcollection. Back in the days, the producers had to focus on voices and music, since Super Robot Wars F wasn’t quite a big graphic improvement after Super Robot Wars 4 despite a major hardware change.

PS: I am missing the “OBI” on that Soundtrack. I am sorry.

It was available a year after the release of Super Robot Wars Alpha on Playstation. The title “Original Story” stands for a drama CD (CD that includes an audio story). However, the content provided is much more than a simple drama. First, the story is well mixed, full of sounds and action. Furthermore, the tracks provided include more than that. Track 5 is a remix version of “Everywhere you Go” featuring Masaaki Endoh. This remix sounds like an ending song from a movie. Release date: 25 November 2010 (2010.11.25) Here’s another pre-order gift you get when buying a Super Robot Wars game before its release. This is an “ORIGINAL MULTIFUNCTION CASE”. The whole stuff is made of plastic (PVC) and you can put your DS games or memory cards on it. I can’t think of any other use, so it’s not really “multifunction” Here’s a fun story about the release of the item. As you can see, the pre-order picture provided by Bandai-Namco (the second one) was slightly different from the scan of the final version. Indeed: the full copyright of each serie included in the game was missing. I had NO idea that you had to write it down even if you were not displaying game artwork. The publisher himself wasn’t aware of that. So, Bandai-Namco had to add 9 lines (I’m not joking) of copyright inside. It seems that the publisher printed it in haste after the original production. Unfortunately the copyright print wasn’t dry so it drooled on the other side of your “Multifunction case”, spoiling the gift. But hey, it was free, so don’t complain.

The reason why I love Super Robot Wars. I’m not a fan of longplay videos, but this one is only 3 minutes long. Have a look and enjoy these incredible real-time animations in the latest PS4 game. Kill or get Killed strategy. Of course, this is my play :D

WHY can’t your CD title stand on 2 lines ?! That said, this cd contains only 2 songs: The opening song from the OVA, and a special version of the super famous “Nippu! Shippu! Cybuster!”. They also provide the karaoke versions, so that makes a total of 4 tracks. I would have expected more. There are only 5 official songs from the OVA, so including them all on a CD would have been easy. The booklet is empty too. That’s too bad, because overall the 2 songs are great nonetheless. 01. サイバスター (off vocal) Japanese tracks title tentative English translation 01. Meikyuu no Prisoner - Labyrinth of Prisoner 02. (1993) Release date: August 1993 (1993.8) This is the August release 1993 of Super Famicom Magazine, a Japanese magazine that includes a cd with video games tracks. I always enjoyed the music from Super Famicom and SNES games, so that’s perfectly fine with me. The first 4 tracks are taken from Super Robot Wars 3, which was released late July. For a change, I ripped track 2 of the CD for you to enjoy, since this is mostly a promotional CD, but if it ever goes down, so be it http://vimeo.com/178475284

I also included the SRW3 ad that was in the magazine. Of course, to get music tracks from the game, I somehow have the feeling that Famicom Magazine gave Banpresto a huge bargain on the ad price... but who know ? :D  SUPER FAMICOM magazine August 1993 Appendix CD   1. STRATEGIC COMMAND (SRW3) 2. WILDNESS WAR (SRW3) 3. GROUND ZERO (SRW3) 4. VIOLENT BATTLE (SRW3) ...  PS: Red color from old Japanese magazines breaks the Tumblr image uploader, so I had to slightly fade out the pictures.

SUPER ROBOT WARS OG SAGA: Masou Kishin The Lord of Elemental phone card (#19) AKA: スーパーロボット大戦OGサーガ 魔装機神 THE LORD OF ELEMENTAL PHONE CARD Release date: 27 May 2010 (2010.5.27)

Another SRW Phone card. if you haven’t read the whole story about Japanese phone cards, please have a look at this article. It was produced as a pre-order gift for the DS remake of Super Robot Wars OG - Lord of Elemental. However you received it only if you preo-ordered the item in Sofmap shops. Lord of Elemental serie hasn’t been as popular as the regular SRW or even SRW OG. However, the first episode on Super Famicom version has really kicked out the technical limits of the console.

At the very same time, you can enjoy the cover of the game. WHO wouldn’t need this incredible item... well who would actually. But you got it for free, so don’t complain !
